United States Olympic Committee president Mark Adams announced Tuesday that Michael Delzotto will play in the men’s soccer final in Montreal on June 16.
The decision to play in Montreal was made by Adams in a meeting with the federation’s president after Delzottos first-round clash with Toronto’s Sebastian Giovinco on June 5.
Delzotos head coach John Hackworth said the federation is pleased to have Delzotta back on the ice.
Adams told reporters Tuesday that Delzotti had “not been able to recover from the incident” and that he had “felt a little bit out of place.”
He added that the federation will look to see Delzoto play on the world stage next summer in Beijing.
Delzotto played just two games with the USMNT, with a goal and an assist, after being waived by the team in early February.
He was injured in a fall during training camp and didn’t play for the USWNT, but he was part of a World Cup qualifier for the United States in February.
