In the coming days, trademark attorneys at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office are expected to issue an order requiring Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin to immediately stop using his trademarked logo.
Martin’s trademark for “Game of the Thrones” is the first in the series and is used on books, maps, merchandise, clothing and other products.
Martin’s attorneys are expected in court on Thursday to say that his trademark “Game” is confusingly similar to the trademark “George R. R. Martin.”
The trademark filing is the latest in a string of legal battles between Martin and the trademark office.
Last month, a federal judge rejected Martin’s attempt to get the trademark removed from his company, but the case is still pending.
Martin has also used the trademark on various items from his books and other media, including merchandise, television shows and film.
