On Sunday, the Washington Redskins trademarked their name and logo.
The team’s owner Dan Snyder has said the team is not interested in the term “Redskins.”
A spokesman for the team told the Washington Post the team plans to continue using the trademarked name.
“We have no intention of changing the name of the team,” the spokesman told the Post.
We have had a great relationship with the Washington team since we purchased it in 1946.
That’s a long history and we want to keep it that way.
In addition to the trademark application, the Redskins have filed a lawsuit against a local business in a dispute over the team’s use of the Redskins’ logo.
The lawsuit seeks an injunction against the business.
